Kindergarten First Word.
Kindergarten is a time of tremendous growth, learning, discovery, and friendship. This year, we inaugurated a new tradition-First Word-to mark every student’s passage from Kindergarten to First Grade. Similar to our 8th-grade ritual and tradition of Final Word, our littlest learners reflected on their time at Polaris. They shared how their academic and character lessons prepared them for first grade. Our First Word ceremony gathered parents and families, and each student took the stage, introduced themselves, and then proudly proclaimed to their community I’m ready for First Grade because:
I know how to read and count.
I show Compassion.
I can add and subtract.
Even when the teacher is not looking, I still do the right thing.
I know how to write.
Kindergarten Crew leaders Ms. Angela Krischon and Ms. Erin Walker honored each student’s First Word with a special pin and ribbon. Our Kindergarteners concluded the ceremony by singing Bruno Mars’ “You Can Count On Me,” a song they sang every morning to start their Kindergarten day joyfully.
Primera Palabra de Kindergarten
El kindergarten es una época de tremendo crecimiento y aprendizaje, descubrimiento y amistad. Este año, inauguramos una nueva tradición – Primera Palabra – para marcar el paso de cada estudiante de Kindergarten a Primer Grado. Similar a nuestro ritual y tradición de Octavo Grado, la Última Palabra, nuestros pequeños aprendices reflexionaron sobre su tiempo en Polaris y compartieron cómo sus lecciones académicas y de carácter los prepararon para el primer grado. Nuestra ceremonia de Primera Palabra reunió a padres y familias, y cada estudiante subió al escenario, se presentó y luego proclamó con orgullo a su comunidad: Estoy listo para Primer Grado porque:
Sé leer y contar. Muestro compasión. Sé sumar y restar. Incluso cuando el maestro no está mirando, sigo haciendo lo correcto. Sé escribir.
Las líderes del equipo de Kindergarten, la Sra. Angela Krischon y la Sra. Erin Walker, honraron la Primera Palabra de cada estudiante con un pin especial y una cinta. Nuestros estudiantes de Kindergarten concluyeron la ceremonia cantando “You Can Count On Me” de Bruno Mars, una canción que cantaban todas las mañanas para comenzar su día de Kindergarten de manera alegre.
