Congratulations Boys & Girls Basketball Teams on a Great Season!
7/8 Boys Basketball Team Advances to City Championship Tournament
We are Polaris Proud of of our Boys and Girls Polar Bear Basketball teams. The regular season ended last week with both teams competing in the playoffs.
Congratulations to our Polar Bear Girls Basketball team who played in the conference finals against the Lewis Falcons. Our Polar Bear girls played with a lot of heart and grit, but unfortunately were not able to defeat the Falcons, who flew to a 6-16 victory over Polaris. Our Girl Polar Bears ended their season as runners up in the Orr conference. Go Girls! You Rock!
The 7/8 Boy Polar Bears also played against the Lewis Falcons in the Orr conference finals. Our Boy Polar Bears clawed their way to a win and emerged victorious against the Falcons in an overtime nail-biter (30-25). Players Ade and Ronald both made big free throws under pressure at the end of the game to win the conference. Polaris 7/8 Boys advance to the City Championship Tournament and will represent Orr conference.
Throughout the season, the Polaris Cheer team, under the guidance of Ms. Sparkle Ball, chanted and cheered our teams to victory. The cheerleaders were a welcome addition to every game and boosted our players’ confidence and lifted up each team to compete at the next level. We especially thank all the families who came out to root our teams to winning seasons. Athletic Director Martin Hodges remarked: “I want to give a shout out to our winter sports student athletes and coaches Mr. Hollins and Mr. Watt. Everyone worked really hard this season.”
Representing Orr conference in the City Championship playoffs, the Boy Polar Bears play on Saturday, February 16. Tip off is at noon at Prosser Academy (2148 N. Long Avenue).
