Polaris 5th and 6th graders investigate what makes clean water clean.
In their current expedition about water quality, students will be learning about local waterways and sediment types with a focus on what affects the quality of water. Students have already met with experts from the Friends of the Chicago River to learn about these questions and prepare for their fieldwork expedition to the different branches of the Chicago River including Bubbly Creek to take water samples.
Last time this expedition was done, students were awarded the People’s Choice Award by Climate Cycle, a Chicago-based environmental and youth organization. Read more about it here!
