In the spring of 2013, Polaris Charter Academy was chosen to become an Expeditionary Learning Mentor School. This honor was based on the school’s record of student achievement, fidelity to the EL model, and readiness to contribute to the EL network of schools. As a mentor school, Polaris serves as an exemplary school model opening our doors to school teachers and leaders interested in learning more about our best practices.
On January 30th and 31st, Polaris hosted a group of 60 educators from across the country for a two-day site seminar. Using Polaris as a case study, site seminar participants spend two days learning about how to build a school culture that supports academic success. Guests toured the school, heard from student, teacher, leadership and parents during featured panels, and participated in their first Community Circle – an experience many expressed as a highlight of their trip. Polaris is humbled that so many would like to learn from our success and hope each guest found a piece of Polaris’ culture they would like to bring back to their own program.
Thank you to all of our visitors!
